And the winner is...
J. Edward Andrews
Historic Wings and the Cavanaugh Flight Museum at Addison Airport in Addison, Texas, are pleased to announce that Ed Andrews of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has won the ride. We'll be flying Ed down from Fort Wayne to Dallas for the weekend and have a hotel stay already booked for him.
Barring unforeseen maintenance problems and weather permitting, during the air show as part of Fly Days on March 27-28, 1999, the Cavanaugh Flight Museum will take to the skies with Ed in the cockpit (special modifications to the P-51 allow him to ride right behind the pilot under the bubble canopy). It is the dream of a lifetime!
ABOUT ED ANDREWS
Ed Andrews is a pilot, holding a third class medical, a member of the AOPA, and Vice President of the Back Forty Flying Club, a fine club in the Fort Wayne area. He is 53 years old and married with three children and three grandchildren. He holds a BEE from the University of Delaware and an MEE and PhD in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University. He works as a staff scientist and semiconductor research engineer at ITT Aerospace/Communications, where he works on weather satellites.
He is an FAA rated private pilot (SEL) with instrument rating, and has 650 hours since taking his first flight lesson in September of 1993. Describing his love of flight, Ed wrote, "My Dad instilled the love of flying and interest in warbirds in me at a very young age through stories of his experiences in the Army Air Corps in 1944-45 learning to be a fighter pilot and then instrument instructor. My first ride was in a J3 Cub at the age of 5 at Laurel, DE. I wish he was alive today so we could share our love of flying together."
